my father has been smoking for over 20 years, my mother has been smoking for almost 20, when they told me this it really got me concerned because i don’t want my father or mother to die from this addiction,i do see them smoke allot and the thought of they’re death constantly haunts me, but i feel guilty that I’m not doing anything, could someone please give me some ideas on how i get them to break their addiction!

I really wish there was some way of convincing those we love to stop their addictions, be it cigarettes, alcohol or drugs. Unfortunately they are seldom swayed by the fears or wishes of others, it is almost as if this were part of the process of addiction. They themselves need to decide they want to stop and to seek help. If this does not happen there is little chance that anything will change.
